Making a Mini Farm Prototype
The high school squad got together to build a mini indoor farm as a prototype to a larger hydroponic farm we would eventually receive a grant for. Our mini farm consisted of a donated germination rack tightly wrapped with reflective home insulation and controlled by a Particle Photon. We used BLYNK to control it. The monitor and keyboard served the exclusive function of making the farm look way cool. See for yourself before you scoff.
We also butchered a portable air conditioner and hacked it so we could control it with the Particle Photon. Hacking the control board of the AC was seriously difficult but we eventually found two contacts on the PCB that turned the machine on and off at full blast.
